ASh-62IR

Radial engine of the An-2 and Li-2

معروض
Arkady Shvetsov's engine grew from the licensed Wright Cyclone but was reworked for domestic materials and fuel. A single-stage supercharger, air cooling and modest boost gave a huge service life and tolerance of rough maintenance. The ASh-62IR powered the Li-2 transport and the An-2, where its ability to work from unpaved strips in hard frost mattered more than fuel economy. It was built in the USSR, Poland and China in tens of thousands. On display is an engine with reduction gear and propeller hub, partly opened to show the piston assembly.
