The permanent engine-building exhibition: piston, turbojet and liquid-propellant rocket engines shown in cutaway and on stands.
The engine hall is arranged as a chronological line: from the piston AM-38 of the Il-2 attack aircraft, through the first mass-produced VK-1 turbojet, to the modern AL-31F of the Su-27 fighter. Every exhibit is sectioned, letting the visitor trace the path of fuel and air through compressor, combustion chamber and turbine.
The rocket section brings together the RD-107 and RD-108 engines of the Korolev R-7 family, the lunar NK-33 and the super-heavy RD-170 of the Energia launcher. A separate stand covers the NK-144 — the world’s first production supersonic engine for passenger aviation.
Interactive consoles let visitors compare the thrust, specific impulse and mass of every engine on display within a single frame of reference.
