MiG: Nine Decades

From the first jet to the fourth generation

An upcoming exhibition on the Mikoyan-Gurevich design bureau: the MiG-15, MiG-21 and MiG-29 in one hall. Opening in three weeks.

Three eras of jet aviation will meet in a single hall. The MiG-15 with its VK-1 engine is the most-produced jet fighter in history, with over 15,000 built. The MiG-21 is the most-produced supersonic aircraft, in service for half a century. The MiG-29 closes the line as a fourth-generation machine, first shown publicly in 1988. All three aircraft will stand wingtip to wingtip, letting visitors see how aerodynamics, materials and the cockpit changed across forty years. The documentary section will bring together drawings, the logbooks of test pilots and factory-floor film from the museum archive.
